The Mess, FunkBunk’s new lounge space, officially opened its doors to residents, Meetup members and guests of the flexible office space at a late lunch event on the 9th February, 2016.
The new lounge is the result of an aesthetic refurbishment by the owners of the shared office who painstakingly and creatively decorated, rewired, tiled, carpeted and refurnished the space themselves with the help of friends and family. The result is stunning. You can read more about the interior design here.
“The launch of the new lounge was a great success. Bubbles were sipped, a few sarnies were nibbled and a lovely bunch of people chatted and admired the lounge and new office”, commented Sam Cranwell, owner of FunkBunk.
The Mess is the latest perk for people who rent offices and hire hot desks in the open office at FunkBunk. The work space, which is one of the original workhubs in the UK, has been opening its doors to freelancers and those who work from home for over 8 years. Whilst the coworking movement has exploded over the past couple of years across large towns and cities, FunkBunk is one of just a few that has succeeded in the rural areas surrounding Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Watford, Luton and Buckingham.
“People love the ‘Bunk for its countryside location and ambience. It’s a place to get your head down and work; to get things done when the distractions of home or coffee shops become too distracting or isolating. People work hard when they come to FunkBunk – often because they’ve made the drive to get here and want to make the most of it – and so we wanted to give them a place to relax when they needed a break from all that productivity”, added Sam.
“FunkBunk can be pretty quiet when everyone has their head deep in work so The Mess brings a more social aspect to the shared office – it’s somewhere where people can chat, relax, eat lunch, have a sneaky kip, read magazines or watch TV without the worry of distracting anyone else”.
FunkBunk will be running a series of workshops and events at The Mess throughout 2016 for people who freelance or work from home. Sign up to the FunkBunk newsletter or follow on Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook for updates.
